Looking for information and names for our Signal Charlie page about this mishap involving a Mid Air Recovery System,(MARS) SH-3 Helicopter. Anyone on the list remember or know about this mishap and the folks involved? Like to add it to our revised listing....mgb MARS accident at Pt Mugu??? "June 4, 1975- 1 fatality (HS-4, San Diego)" Mishap at Mugu, and named the copilot whose egress story was in a Navy magazine, and he responded with his copy of story. It was all about the bailout "because of Chute in the Tail Rotor"! How the accident happened was not mentioned. His name D Damon or something like that. He is on your list, several others served with him and knew of accident story. Must be one of the few Navy pilots with a real parachute exit from a damaged H-3.
