It is a HS-8 ‘bird in the photo. The Skipper of HS-8 during this flight was CDR L.W Knight, USN, while the XO was CDR A.W.Paine, USN. A Flag Officer transfer on the very first Nuc Submarine probably means one of them was the Helicopter Aircraft Commander(HAC) for this very high visibility mission.
