Europeans largely get fed a steady diet of very biased left news with not much counter on the right side and have a pretty skewed view of the bigger picture in many places.. not all. Seems like Poland gets it as do a few other Eastern European countries pushing back against the flood. Is there anything that would be along the lines of a Breitbart in Europe.. anywhere? Or similar? Might be like 1 UK based newspaper that isn't in the pockets of the left and them the elite probably write it off as tabloid. This might be a bit of stereo typing but the older non vet boomers of my area seem to be easily suckered into buying into the leftist rhetoric as they aren't really skeptical of local and national traditional TV news.. they show up with their signs for the No Kings protest but then when questioned don't really even know why they are there and then get confused when you point out their Governor is doing far worse stuff than Trump ever dreamed of. As for Iran.. I can't get too deep into it and my information would be pretty stale at 20 years old but I did some work on the Iran issue. We should have mined the crap out of their harbors the first time they mentioned mines in the straits. Not sure how long this one sided cease fire will last with them still making or obtaining drones and hitting their neighbors with them. I will say this, 20 years ago we knew a major fear they had of us was having a couple divisions worth of tank forces parked in eastern Iraq scared the crap out of them. They are not really equipped to deal with that. Are they now with all the drones? Who knows. If you can separate the majority of the populace from support of the regime, this can be won but I have no idea if there is any kind of effective communications or psyop going on to inform the Iranian public of the other side of this. They have reliably worked the delaying tactic for decades and still use it and our media almost helps them with it. Where is the Iranian regimes center of gravity? Is there a new one we need to attack? As for the 250th.. I was 8 when the Bicentenial was and it was epic. I really think the left has done massive damage to our country through decades of indoctrination in public schools. Obviously we still have plenty of folks who have ignored and resisted it but a whole lot of gullible people have fallen for it and we are worse off for it.
This was always the risk and Trump should have been well aware Iran was never to be trusted. The planning assumption always was that Iran was going to hold the upper hand if things escalated, and Trump and Israel escalated them very quickly. Now Iran has essentially launched a sort of diplomatic insurgency to make this an issue for the midterms and separate Trump and Israel from the rest of the world. For what it’s worth, I don’t think it will be as catastrophic as they want. Gas prices are falling fast in a lot of the country, just in time for summer and Americans have developed a very short attention span for overseas wars over the last 25 or so years. On this 82nd anniversary of D-Day and 250th birthday year, many of us also don’t care what Europeans think about us.
