Haditha.  I knew nothing about him until he decided to shine up his war medals and dust off his Vietnam era “baby killer’ rhetoric to impugn some junior Marines on the floor of Congress.  I think we are all old enough to remember how Bush was the original “Hitler” and the Democrats so wanted American failure from the start.  It wasn’t about policy, it was about power and Murtha was only too happy to join in and fan the war crime flames.  He doesn’t deserve his name on a trash barge let alone a warship.

Somewhere I have a picture of me standing duty in Flag Plot with the Admiral and Murtha behind me.  I think it may have been on Boxer in 07 or 08.  Murtha had said some horrible stuff and made some accusations about the Marine MEU we had embarked after their last trip to Iraq and was scared enough of the Marines he had a bodyguard with him the entire visit.  Naming that ship after him was a consolation prize after he died by the Obama administration.  There were claims of malpractice at the Naval hospital he died in.  I honestly think it needs to be renamed according to the naming conventions for that class of ship.  He simply didn't merit that honor.
