Canadian helicopter procurement has been one of the ugliest procurement stories in the world. Research the maritime helo story of a couple of decades ago. Billions wasted. I note that this one wants to have the first article by 2033 (7 years for first aircraft) and operational by 2038 (12 years). It’s like there are no helos being procured anywhere in the world. And the mention of Bell owning the exclusive intellectual rights to the Griffon so the govt is limited to sole source maintenance contracts gives an indicator of their ineptitude. They are spending a lot of money, but it is a path frought with frustration, delays, and changes that could again kill the program.
