FYI, Putin has long believed he can win a war with NATO. He has stated several times publicly that he sees NATO as the enemy of Mother Russia. If you read his goals and terms for a deal with Ukraine,
they are buried in them. So, while this is nothing new, recent actions by Russia lead me to believe that he is stepping up his “poking” at the NATO to see what it will do. Putin believes NATO, despite its growing support of Ukraine as a paper tiger and that
its population has no stomach with a war with Russia.
Which leads me to connecting a few other dots. There are indications, getting stronger, of closer coordination between Russia and Iran with the goal of embroiling the U.S. in two major regional
conflicts at the same time. Add in PRC’s overhead intelligence support and we have a really ugly situation.
BTW, before I retired in September 1993, the U.S. planned on fighting two regional conflicts at the same time. One of my last tasks was revising C7F’s war plans to fight several conflicts at once.
