The whole Navy, and probably the military writ large, was run by these people for about a decade.  All political, all empty rhetoric, super corrupt.  I don’t love everything this administration is doing or the way they are doing it, but the victimhood leadership era is at an end, at least for a few years.  I also think the era of over promoted veterans waving participation medals in the faces of voters is behind us as well.  Too many voices out there now to call it for what it is.
