For the record, the pan has been on the car since it was built in the early 200s and has provided good service. It is an extremely low car and so that SBC sits low in the chassis, I normally catch or see in this case the raised up had steel section of the open pit at the oil changers, but did not actually see it and the employee did not pick up on it who was guiding  me in over the pit….It would probably have cracked a steel pan in the same way it shocked my alm pan and cracked it…..so no giant hole but a crack which started leaking….Just part of running a low car……mgb
