I finished up making a reproduction 41-21 Willys Rear View Mirror using Rob Pridge’s recommendations on a specific speedway mirror and then fashioning the 90 degree stem mount bolt based on the original dimensions of a Willys factor mirror bolt. I used a 5/15-18 thread 3 ½ inch bolt, measured 3 inches up from the threaded end and bent the bolt manually in my bench vice 90s grees. I cut the head off and filed it a bit. I then used the proper diameter drill for taping a 10-24 thread, drilling it the same depth as the mounting bung on the Speedway mirror, plus a little and then I taped the hole with a 10-24 tap and bolted it all together. Works very well. Added an additional 5/16-18 nut (for lock purposes against the windshield frame) to the threaded shaft and it is ready to mount in the stock mirror hole in the center top of your inside windshield frame….Mirror was 60 bucks with shipping and Ca sales tax. A couple bucks for the bolt and nut plus a drill and tap if you do not already have one and a little time….I have not spent anytime making my 90 degree mounting bolt pretty but there are any number of possibilities to finish it to your taste……….
