Lots of sky to get lost in in SW Idaho and not many obvious landmarks to use for positioning either. Those teams are supposed to have a set pattern rehearsed over and over, so one ship mu st have got lost in space. How many flight hours in the last year? Last 6 months? Past month?
What was the pre-brief for this mission?
Did the flight plan include maneuver prep?
Were both pilots safety briefed together, prior to flying to the destination?
If these aircraft are indeed Growlers, $137 million dollars down the drain, plus the compressed spines of 4 aviators (compressed spine mentioned, because I have a compressed spine . . . self-centric comment from prior naive nugget experience, but my heart goes out to all 4).
